Oprah Donates $10 Million To Coronavirus Relief Efforts
Oprah Winfrey who is a top America celebrity, has donated a whooping sum of $10 million to help Americans as the coronavirus pandemic continues to adversely impact life across the country.
And this is coming on the hill of the global health crisis in America, comes after the news last week that 6.6 million people in United States filed for unemployment.
She said on Thursday that $1 million of her donation should go to America’s Food Fund. The initiative, co-founded by actor Leonardo DiCaprio and Laurene Powell Jobs, was launched Thursday with support from Apple and the Ford Foundation whose goal it is to ensure that everyone in communities affected by the coronavirus has access to food to.
“I know everybody can’t donate a million dollars but I feel like this is the central place to go if you really want to do something,” Winfrey, 66, told chef José Andrés and Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot.
“Everybody who’s sitting at home and thinking, I don’t know what to do and I don’t know where to give my money to, I know I can trust my money in your hands,” Winfrey said.
Although Americans are constrained in the ways they can help nowadays, Oprah knows there is still a desire to give back, despite the obstacles.
And the media mogul also said while “everyone’s priority right now is to stay safer at home” during the pandemic, “I know there are many of us looking for ways to help.”
Also, apart from her $10 million donation, Oprah has been assisting people get through the pandemic with her free series, streaming on Apple TV+, “Oprah Talks COVID-19.” .
And Oprah has remote conversations with experts and everyday people to provide insight, meaning, and tangible advice for the human spirit. So, the synopsis reads ‘How can we mindfully move through a crisis while holding on to ourselves and our humanity?’

Also, Oprah has been taking steps to ensure she has been remaining safe during this COVID-19 pandemic as well.
And, Oprah Winfrey is the latest top America celebrity who have contributed funds to coronavirus relief efforts, including Dolly Parton who donated $1 million towards Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s coronavirus research.
Also, last month, actors Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively donated $1 million to two food banks to help older adults and low-income families impacted by the outbreak.
And Donald Trump’s coronavirus task force has also extended national guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus, this includes not holding social gatherings with more than 10 people and only leaving the home for essential purposes, like for food or to seek medical attention.
Oprah Winfrey has transitioned her hit talk show, that ran for 25 years, into a media and business empire.
